Growth Will Cost You the Old Version of You

We often pray for growth, promotion, and increase. But rarely do we pray for the pruning that must come first.
God never enlarges our life without first refining our heart.
The habits, reactions, and mindsets that carried you through one season may hinder you in the next. The old version of you cannot carry the weight of your future calling. So God lovingly begins removing what once felt normal — certain comforts, responses, and even relationships.
Pruning is not rejection. It is preparation.
When leaves are cut from a branch, the tree is not dying. It is conserving strength so healthier fruit can grow. Likewise, God removes what drains your spiritual energy so your life can produce something eternal.
Growth feels like loss before it feels like progress.
You may miss who you used to be — the familiar routines, the predictable reactions, the version of yourself that felt easier to manage. But the new you God is forming carries greater peace, patience, and clarity.
Do not fight the transformation.
The life you are asking God for requires the surrender you are resisting.
Let Him shape you into someone strong enough to steward the blessing He is bringing.
